Doug de Nada
Very good friend of mine passed away a few days ago from a quick battle with lymphoma.. After DJing a tribute set of strange Funk and Afrobeat at his DJ night. I thought it would be fitting to dedicate this weeks posts to stuff I learned about from Doug. With all my love going out to Lori and his family.

Now I’m not sure what this says about Doug’s personality, but he loved him some dirty old man funk music. Blowfly and Andre Williams are some of the dirtiest funkiest musicians that he could think of, and Doug absolutely loved how hilariously raunchy they were.
I kind of vaguely remember a long interesting story about Andre Williams playing at the Double Down, and an after party where Doug hung out with the dude who absolutely got smashed. I’m sure somebody else can relay that story better than me, but he made it a point to let me know if Andre was ever in town with the Flash Express.
Blowfly was just an obvious staple in Doug’s crates. Many hours were spent laughing over Blowfly records on the regular.
