Check it out! Week 2. Juan Alderete makes it to the front page of BIG MUFF. He is obviously doing something right.
I gotta tell you that this new Big Sir album is THE SHIT. You need to be listening to music like this right now. Hurry Hurry.. I’ll wait..
I know I posted this here on Big Muff before (because it truly is a rare anomaly in music), but I think now’s a bit more befitting. I wasn’t too big a Whitney Houston fan to be honest, but it sucks to see any gifted artist die.
This song is actually her first lead recording, and it was with the experimental jazz funk band called Material led by Bill Laswell. It was written by Soft Machine’s Roadie turned Bass player, Hugh Hopper (RIP).

This post is dedicated to you Whitney (RIP), but you weren’t listening..

I did not know you very well my friend. Though I have been told by many that you are one of the most important Argentinean rockers of all time. It is however a shame to see you go. I know how terrible and wonderful and lonely and fulfilling it can be to be an artist. So let’s hope you found your happiness on this miserable earth.
un cordial saludo,
- Diego

My friend SoulMarcosa’s recent record auction reminded me of a great song from a band that you don’t hear much about.
Some of you (none of you) will probably recognize this song from that immortal psychedelidc scene starring one young Mr. Angelina Jolie’s daddy in Midnight Cowboy.

Don’t know much about this NYC band, besides all the googled information that points this band showing great promise working with John and Yoko.. Yes, that John and Yoko. Who knows what happened with all of that, but the song that blows me away is Old Man Willow..
Very forward thinking music that absolutely influenced the Trish Keenan (RIP) fronted Broadcast. Elephant’s Memory made this incredibly moody psych song that somehow burns in your memory.

I love my taste in music

My homie A1 from the band RNR, has been trying to get me to bug the homie Thesuno to come play VEGAS. I dunno..? You think Vegas would be hype for a People Under the Stairs show?
I think so. Las Vegans, let me know if you want me to make this happen? I’m thinking Aurajin, 8-bit, Expo and Phoreyz on the Decks with People Under the Stairs and RnR @ Insert Coins, House of Blues or The Cosmo.
