“We’re creating our life constantly. The whole world is a mental creation. The highest paid doctors, Michael Jackson’s doctors, will tell you, You become your thoughts. So from a medical point of view, they will tell you the same thing as the Buddhist will tell you or as the Hindu will tell you — you become your thoughts, you create your thoughts. The Kabbalah states the very first law of the eight basic principles is, The whole world is a mental creation.” —Omar Rodriguez Lopez

Why must I (always) be the thief

Hendrix covers Bob Dylan’s Tears of Rage.

Malcolm completely reinterprets it’s meaning.

Hmm.. I don’t know why I’ve been thinking about this lately. You think that line is very common? Or do you think Malcolm Mooney might have also been influenced by Dylan?

“Before Jaki came to Can, he was trying to commit suicide. He was playing with Chet Baker in Barcelona, as a jazz drummer. Then he went to Ibiza. And south of this island is a rock called Tago Mago. Mago means magic, and Tago was the name of a magic master who lived there. And Jaki was on that rock and tried to spring down because he thought his life didn’t make any sense. I think he is the one who said we should call it Tago Mago.” —Holger Czukay on the origins of the name “TAGO MAGO”

Boris - Hope

Is it just me, or is Boris turning into Blonde Redhead? I gotta admit. I really like this new side of them. Or maybe it’s just because Blonde Redhead have gone soft?

Emin Findikoglu - Cecen Kizi Yesilcam

If you’re on this page and you’re anything like me. You probably already know how boring the rest of the internet is. And you want change. Correct me if I’m wrong. Who else is consistently dropping shit like this. I’m bored of the internet. I’m bored with Facebook. I’m bored of Youtube. I’m just gonna keep dropping gems, keep researching.. cause nobody can stop me here. I want to infect your ears and open your mind. Yes I’m drunk.. drunk off this turkish music juice and Tinto and Caña. Join the good fight. Join my robot army. Fight the good fight, Change the face of music. Can I get an Amen? Big Muff you want it, you need it, you can’t live without it. Why Big Muff? Because Coca-Cola tastes like shit.

“At 25 it was probably the tail end of my hip-hop period. I went from listening to Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath and that music into hip-hop really deeply. That was the real focus of my musical interests at that time. Although, while I was listening to hip-hop, I was still listening to Black Sabbath and I was still listening to James Brown and I was still listening to things outside of hip-hop. But the dominant thing I was listening to at that time was hip-hop.” —RICK RUBIN

Maker - FREE

This is one of those tracks that I’m surprised more people aren’t talking about. I guess this isn’t that heavy heavy HIP HOP sound that my homie Maker from Chicago is known for. This track is straight up funky disco with a house feel. I was really thrown back that this cut was on his Maker vs. Now & Again album. It’s a beautiful thing though. Maker beefs up those drums, and really lets those samples ride.

I’m interested to hear how this plays in your club. Wherever you are. I know that HOUSE music isn’t all that big on dancefloors right now, but whatever good music is good music and this is that Soulful House sound that I love and will make me rush to the dance floor. This is one of those cuts that goes beyond genre.. I guarantee you.. This cut will get people moving. Try it out for yourself. Pick up the record and tell me how it turns out.

And yes Maker you are welcome for the unpaid advertising my friend.

“My belief is that happiness is necessarily transient. The natural state of a reflective man is one of depression. The world is a botch. Women can make men perfectly happy, but they seldom know how to do it. They make too much effort: they overlook the powerful effect of simple amiability. Women are also the cause of the worst kind of unhappines” —H. L. Mencken - 1927- “The human race is incurably idiotic..” - Letters of Note

Caetano Veloso - Amante Amado

I don’t know what’s up with poor Caetano in this photo but it sure doesn’t match how smooth he sounds covering this soulful Jorge Ben song.
